Delegates of the Duyog Mindanao Caravan for Peace and Solidarity finally arrived in Cagayan de Oro City to finally start the Mindanao leg of their journey and extend their support to the hundreds of thousands of refugees now living in evacuation camps in Cotabato, Maguindanao and Lanao provinces.

As a pact of solidarity for peace and right to self-determination, the Ilonggo communities of the Visayas welcomed the participants of the Duyog Mindanao Peoples’ Caravan for Peace and Solidarity with a motorcade and public discussions in the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
A motorcade from the Provincial Capitol grounds of both cities signified the start of the Visayas leg of Duyog (or Solidarity) Mindanao which followed a public fora and interaction with internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Pikit, Cotabato and Datu Piang, Maguindanao. In Iloilo, the public fora were held in the University of Iloilo and West Visayas College of Science and Technology. In Bacolod, the discussions were held in the Provincial Capitol Social Hall and the University of St. La Salle.

Welcomed by a thunderous applause from a jam-packed mass during the feast of Christ the King today at the St. Nino cathedral in Calapan, Mindoro, the Duyog Mindanao Caravan for Peace and Solidarity, started their fourth day of a ten day-long trip attending mass. The mass was officiated by the Vicar General Fr. Nestor Adalia, who delivered a homily asking his parishioners to support the calls of the caravan. Posters and banners supporting the caravan’s calls were plastered all over the cathedral with the main one at the churche’s entrance emblazoned ” Continue the Peace Talks in Mindanao!”

QUEZON CITY- The alarming food crisis that hit the country roused Manila peace advocates to call on government to invest on peace in Mindanao not through arms but through food production.
Peace advocates from around Metro Manila gathered in the Quezon City Memorial Circle for a solidarity lunch with internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Maguindanao and Cotabato called Sa Dulang ng Pagkakaisa to urge for an intensified humanitarian assistance in Mindanao and ask government to invest in peace through sustainable food production.
